Grizzly 399 with One Cub - slate coaster
Description
In memory of grizzly bear 399, from Grand Teton National Park, I have designed this special coaster. In 2023, 27 year old grizzly, research number 399, came out with one cub of the year, which was to be her last. In October 2024, 399 and her then yearling cub, were on a busy highway outside of Jackson, WY and when a driver swerved to miss the cub, he struck and killed 399. It is believed that the cub is healthy enough to survive on his own but his whereabouts are unknown at this time.
This coaster is to remember 399 as she walked with her last cub.
Handcrafted on a 4 x 4 inch slate, with pads underneath, this composite image was made using a laser. A protective coating was then sprayed on for a beautiful shine
